Working methods

Apart from technical expertise, our success also depends on our professionalism and client care. We provide an accessible, responsive and quality assured service.

Client charter
We have an extensive client charter on the firm’s intranet, which is reviewed regularly and to which all our staff our expected to adhere. Highlights of the charter include making contact with us easy, welcoming and pleasant; using plain, understandable language in all spoken and written communications; and responding quickly, using a range of technologies at our disposal.

All our lawyers have email and internet access and most use legal IT systems, such as Solcase case management software and Express Wills, to undertake client work more effectively.

Wards operates a policy of non-discrimination in respect of disabled clients. If you have any special requirements to enable you to access our services, please let us know.

Client satisfaction
Only our clients can fully judge the quality of our service. That’s why you may receive a short questionnaire when we’ve finished working on your case. If so, we hope you can spare the few minutes it takes to reply as, in this way, we monitor performance and give our customers the opportunity to help us improve our service even further. Your replies to the questionnaire go direct to our Managing Partner, David Sheridan.

Our ongoing client satisfaction surveys show that 95% of our clients are happy with our services and would recommend us to others. Our website contains quotes from clients commenting on our ability.

External appraisal
We also welcome feedback from external organisations and our case files and procedures are regularly audited by the Legal Services Commission, to ensure that the standards required to hold the Community Legal Service Quality Mark are maintained and improved.

Standards and procedures are also important to a number of other bodies that we are members of. We hold the Law Society’s Lexcel quality standard and are one of only a handful of local law firms to have achieved this. Lexcel is evidence that we provide clients with good value and a quality service.

A number of our lawyers are also accredited experts under The Law Society’s Personal Injury and Family Law Panels, Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association) and the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers experts’ panels. All of these bodies demand standards of excellence in order for us to remain on their panels.
