Wards solicitor, Joanne Turner, was recently appointed as legal adviser to the Western Counties Amateur Boxing Association (WCABA). Jo is a commercial solicitor based in our central Broad Street office in Bristol. Last year she also became the first female amateur boxing judge in the Western Counties.

Jo comments: “My husband has been a coach for over 18 years, after a career in boxing. I agreed to go along with him to one show but after 10 minutes I was hooked! I’m now looking forward to being involved in both the judging and constitutional affairs of the Western Counties region.” 

Steve Brooks, Secretary of the WCABA adds: “It’s great to have a woman involved in the running of the sport regionally. The Association has varied legal requirements, from medico-legal to insurance and discipline issues and Wards has the range of skills and services we need”.
