Conveyancer retires after 43 years with Wards - 6 April 2006

Barbara Rex, a senior conveyancing specialist, retired from Wards Solicitors after 43 years’ loyal service with the firm. Barbara joined the Bristol city office of Wards in 1963 and has handled all nature of residential conveyancing work since that time.

She later moved to the firm’s offices at Bradley Stoke and Axbridge and then finally to Worle, where she has worked alongside conveyancer Michael Cooper for the last few years and, latterly, the team has grown to include conveyancer Claire Bettesworth.

At a recent party to mark her retirement attended by many members of staff, Wards’ Senior Partner, John Brentnall, presented Barbara with a gift of a landscape print and flowers on behalf of the partners.

Barbara said: “I can’t believe it’s been 43 years – where has the time gone! When I joined Wards, it was a small firm with many fewer offices. Now it has grown to 11 offices and 17 partners but it’s still a friendly place to work. I’ll miss my colleagues and clients but am looking forward to an active retirement that involves more travel and gardening, among other things.”
