Wards' partner selected by LSC to review national quality standards
- 23 March 2006
Elizabeth Fry, a partner specialising in civil litigation cases at the central Bristol office of Wards Solicitors, has been selected as an Independent Peer Reviewer by the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies and is contracted by the Legal Services Commission, who operate what was known as the Legal Aid scheme.
This entails carrying out a review of the quality of advice and legal work on other solicitors’ Legal Aid files, to establish the level of quality and provide valuable feedback to the solicitors.
This is a prestigious appointment and, to date, Elizabeth is one of the first Independent Peer Reviewers to have been selected in the consumer/general contract category. In addition, Elizabeth has been appointed to work with the LSC’s London ‘Supplier Development Group’ to review the process by which quality is assessed on a file and to help produce guidelines to be used by senior case workers in the LSC’s Area Offices.
Elizabeth comments: “I’m delighted that my work in promoting legal excellence has been recognised in this way. Wards are a LSC ‘preferred supplier’ – the top grade awarded – and have also held the Law Society’s quality Lexcel standard for many years. It’s an honour to be able to help promote improved legal standards to benefit consumers, nationally.”
