Worle solicitor named as family law specialist - 19th January 2006

Julie Burbidge, an Associate at the Worle office of Wards Solicitors, has been recognised as a specialist by the UK’s leading family law group, Resolution (formerly known as the Solicitors Family Law Association). Julie is one of only a handful of solicitors (which includes Wards’ Partner and Head of Family Law, Georgina Peacock) that Resolution have accredited in the Weston and Worle area.

Already a Law Society family panellist, Julie has now passed the profession’s most demanding test and is an accredited specialist in the area of domestic violence and Private Children Act work, as well as handling all other areas of family law. Resolution say that panellists require ‘exceptional levels of experience and skill’ and have to be qualified for 5 years, with substantial experience of family law.

All family solicitors at Wards are members of Resolution. This means they are committed to dealing with matters in a sensitive, constructive and cost-effective way and help people to reach agreement without going to Court if possible. Julie says, “We encourage people to put the welfare of children first and help clients avoid expensive litigation”.

Julie is also the Secretary of the Women's Project - a North Somerset charity that aims to raise awareness of domestic abuse and undertakes fundraising to offer subsidised counselling and grants to those affected. She recently moved from Wards’ Weston office to manage the firm’s expanded Worle office, which moved into larger premises in October 2005.
