Martin Keegan
Disputes Partner

Martin qualified as a solicitor in 1975 and has specialised in litigation issues ever since. He joined Wards in 1988, through the merger of his then firm, Brown and Partners, with Wards.

His recent experience has focused on property litigation, principally because Wards acts for many business and private clients in commercial and residential property matters, and property disputes arise from a wide range of transactions.

These can range from shared ownership problems resulting from business and relationship breakdowns and contested claims, to property and estates after death, claims by and against lenders over the scope of commercial and residential mortgages, commercial and residential landlord and tenant issues, and a wide range of commercial and/or private client related contractual claims.

Additionally, Martin advises on employment disputes, acting for either the employer or employee. There is growing demand for up-to-date and effective advice in this area, as employment legislation is increasingly driven by EC Directives.

Martin comments: “With the diversity of Wards’ client base, versatility in being able to deal with the issues that arise day-to-day is a primary requirement of the job. You never quite know what may appear on your desk or in your inbox! Supported by Elizabeth Fry and Ian Williamson (the other members of the disputes team), we believe we can provide answers to the majority of problems that Wards’ clients bring to us”.
