Ian Williamson

Ian qualified as a solicitor in 1995, having trained at national law firm, Osborne Clarke. He joined Wards in 1997 and was promoted to Associate in 2007. He deals with most aspects of disputes work covered by the firm, both for private and business clients. His main fields of expertise are land disputes, contract (including debt recovery), negligence and disputes relating to wills.

Somewhat unexpectedly for a solicitor, Ian has a PhD in German philosophy and used to be a cartoonist, before turning to the law.

Ian says: "It is difficult to list the range of matters that people call me, seeking advice on. I may find I am advising on a commercial maintenance contract one minute, then on an alleged trespass over a neighbour's boundary the next; but it's the variety that keeps it interesting."
